Hi!

This game is my submission project for GameDevHQ.  It meets all of the requirements as far as I could interpret them.

The game is a side-scrolling space-shooter.  

Enemies:

  • It consists of one 'level' containing 16 waves of enemies with a Final Boss.  
  • Watch out for a tricky mini-boss!
  • There are 7 types of enemies that vary in speed, toughness, movements, and attack.  
  • The enemies will respawn on the right if you miss them and they go off-screen. 

Player:

  • You can move up, down, left, and right with the W, S, A, and D keys, respectively, or the arrow keys.
  • Your ship will shoot at enemies automatically once they are within range.
  • Damage and Fire rate can be increased through upgrades randomly dropped by enemies.
  • Enemy hits will drop your weapon back to the Standard Issue. If you don't have upgrades or a shield, you're dead. Game Over!
  • Defeat the final boss to earn credits and claim your High Score.
  • You can set your name in the Options menu.

I have been working on this project during what has been one of the most stressful and difficult times in my entire life.  I'm not looking for sympathy.  I'm just very proud that I got this done at all.  My next project will definitely be better when I apply what I learned while building this game. 

I'm also happy to say that this project earned me the Game Developer Certification from GameDevHQ.
